The Pentagon’s Inspector General is investigating the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) for potential war crimes during in the Middle East. Specifically, the investigation is set to determine if CENTCOM and SOCOM did a proper investigation on the allegation of potential war crimes. The investigation also aims to determine what CENTCOM and SOCOM have done so far in developing programs that are compliant with the Defense Department’s Law of War requirements. The US Forces-Afghanistan, Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve will be investigated too after being named for the US-led coalition against ISIS.
