Detained for civil disorder and related charges, Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, an Army reservist and military contractor, was ordered jailed pending last Tuesday. Hale-Cusanelli was charged for stemming from the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden of Washington marked Hale-Cusanelli’s case as a closed one since the defendant is not accused of hurting anyone or associating with a violent group on Jan. 6. According to court records, Hale-Cusanelli has encouraged others to push past police lines through hand signals, but the “hateful conduct” he has shown is not enough to put him behind bars.
