Nearly 70 years later, Korean War Marine veteran awarded Silver Star on his 89th birthday | Marine Corps Times

After almost 70 years, Cpl. Salvatore Naimo has finally received his long-overdue Silver Star award for his heroic acts during the Korean War. Naimo was with the rest of Howe Company 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines on Sept. 14, 1951, when they were suddenly bombarded by Chinese mortar and cannon fire. He received the award last Wednesday, which also marks the Korean war veteran’s 89th birthday
