Once again, the Pentagon has been called out for providing incomplete figures, which many questions whether the troop is staying true to its promise to be transparent at all times. Specifically, reports say that there were around 3500 troops in Afghanistan, not 2500 as previously announced. In 2017, it was also acknowledged by defense officials that the number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan was closer to 11,000 than the publicly announced figure of 8,400.
