‘Fly Like a Girl’: The story behind a morale patch that honors female aviators | Air Force Magazine

One of the challenges that women aviators face is representing themselves in an industry that is largely dominated by men. With this in mind, Air Force Capt. Melaine Valentin, a T-38C instructor pilot from Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas, has created a tangible representation of them through the morale patch of the Air Education and Training Command’s 2019 Women’s Fly-In. The patch is a female aviator in a helmet and masks and the slogan “Fly Like a Girl,” which perfectly suits the event.
