In the hopes of extending the cannon ranges, the U.S. Army has invested in science and technology studies on how they can make it possible. According to Brig. Gen. John Rafferty, the Army is still waiting for the National Academy of Sciences’ report on the cannon’s technical feasibility. Long-Range Precision Fires (LRPF) is the Army’s top priority in developing a modernized force that can face off near-peer adversaries such as China and Russia.
