The Biden Administration has started conducting a comprehensive Korean policy review that will determine the country’s way of dealing with the North Korean situation in addition to managing the ROK/U.S. alliance. Specifically, the administration is set to develop a policy by the nature and objectives of the Kim family, keeping in mind that Kim Jong-un is into political warfare while the Moon administration is after peace. With this, the Biden administration must have fundamental strategic assumptions upon which to base policy. They must also ensure that the assumptions are aligned with the Republic of Korea’s government.
