The pentagon is ready to give soldiers jetpacks | Popular Mechanics

Must Read

The Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has announced that they are soliciting ideas for “portable personal air mobility systems,” with a budget of $1.5 million in development. Particularly, they are looking for a powered flight system capable of quickly moving a single person, which will make it possible for the troops to zip across the battlefield to rescue downed pilots, fight in cities, or enter or exit the battlefield. The system can use entirely new designs or modifications to existing systems, but it has to fit in one bag or box and be ready to go after just 10 minutes of assembly.
