After Dallas police killed a sniper using an improvised bomb on a robot in 2016, armed robots became taboo. Since then, these types of robots were largely kept out of operations. According to reports, the U.S. Special Forces could be quietly utilizing armed robots. Specifically, they could be using a Lightweight Remote Weapons System on a robot or something similar on the Ground Mobility Vehicle. These robots are expected to be used in protecting operators and perform tasks such as monitoring a base perimeter.
