Medal of Honor recipient and Korean War Army chaplain accounted for | Connecting Vets Radio

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has announced and confirmed that Korean War Medal of Honor recipient Army Chaplain (Capt.) Emil Joseph Kapaun has been accounted for after 70 years. Kapaun was the chaplain of the 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division and was captured by enemy forces after staying with wounded troops. The event didn’t stop him from doing his duty and he played an important role in ministering to the other prisoners of war. He also risked his own life numerous times to save the lives of hundreds of fellow Americans, showing extraordinary courage, faith, and leadership.
