Group of House lawmakers fights for greater access to service dogs for veterans with PTSD | Stars & Stripes

In the hopes of helping veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), house lawmakers are fighting for them to have more access to service dogs. Specifically, Rep. John Rutherford, R-Fla.  reintroduced the Puppies Assisting Wounded Service Members Act. The said act would create a $10 million grant program led by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Qualified nonprofit organizations will receive a stipend worth $25,000 per veteran to pair that person with a service dog.
