One hundred years ago, New York National Guard Major and Congressman Hamilton Fish III led the fight to create the Tomb of the Unknown. Fish was just 32 years old back then with a Harvard degree in law. When war came, he thought of how many people have died due to disease or while in combat. With this, he came with creating a memorial to an American Unknown Soldier, thus, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.
