‘Great power competition’ is a dangerously simple frame | Defense One

In a recent announcement made by Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, continuing the Trump administration’s withdrawals from Europe, South Korea, Afghanistan, and the Middle East is still undetermined. This makes sense as the current force posture of the U.S. is not exactly working. This means that the Pentagon should have a closer look at the world’s actors, preferences, and relationships to correctly set force posture. When done correctly, the country can effectively stop adversaries from acts of aggression against one’s allies.
