The fight for command of the seas has been extremely a big issue over the last few years, not just for China and the US but also for other countries. Would it be beneficial to the USA to give up the fight? The truth is, even if the US will lose its command over maritime commons, China is not positioned to gain it. Instead of giving up the fight, the US, together with its partners and allies, should focus on denying China command of the Pacific maritime commons. With this, Western Pacific will remain a contested environment, which means China can’t easily break it out.
