Here’s how the Pentagon will remove the names of Confederates from military bases | Task & Purpose

Must Read

In the hopes of changing the names of military bases that currently honor Confederate leaders, Pentagon has created an eight-member commission to work on it. The commission members include retired Navy Adm. Michelle Howard, retired Marine Gen. Robert Neller, retired Army Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, Kori Schake, and retired Marine Gen. James Mattis, among others. The group is expected to recommend how to rename bases, ships, schools, and any other Defense Department assets under the name of people who have voluntarily served with the Confederate States of America until October 2022.
