In research conducted by John Gottman in 1986, it was found out that the secret to long and happy relationships is the same at work and home. In the study, Gottman invited couples in, hooked them up to electrodes, and asked them some questions. Gottman then labeled the couples as either masters or disasters. Masters are the couples that stayed together and are relaxed around each other. On the other hand, disasters are the couples that were regularly in fight or flight mode.
