Insider attacks against US troops in Afghanistan have dropped to a historic low. Here’s why | Task & Purpose

Despite the rising violence in Afghanistan, the U.S. Military troops have not experienced any inside attack in the last few months of 2020. The sudden decline of inside attack could be because of the February peace agreement between the U.S. and the Taliban or due to U.S. troop drawdown in the country, which has reduced the country’s troops to roughly 2,500 only. According to Jason Dempsey, a former Army officer, and fellow at the Center for New American Security, the drawdown has increased the opportunities for disaffected Afghans to interact with Americans.
