AFRICOM forces conduct first engagements in Somalia since repositioning | DVIDS

Since the successful repositioning, the U.S. Africa Command Forces and Special Operations Command Africa have completed their first engagement into Somalia. Their first engagement involved training partners on different issues that require combat skills and operational planning. This engagement is under the U.S. and Somali National Army Danab Forces partnership, wherein it is agreed upon that the U.S. Air Forces will provide training, advice, and support coordination to Danab units. “Our first engagement back into Somalia so quickly after the repositioning shows we remain committed to our Somali and regional partners and support their fight against violent extremism,” stated U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Dagvin Anderson, Special Operations Command Africa commander.
