In a 4-3 vote, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission has approved U.S. Navy’s request to use some of the state’s parks for special operations training. Commission chairman Steve Milner, vice-chair Michael Latimer and commissioners Lucinda Whaley and Mark Brown voted yes to the proposal. With this, the Navy can use these state parks to train for five years. The approval is historical too since, for the first time, the public has been allowed to weigh in on military training in state parks.
