The Venezuelan village that refused to be bought | BBC Travel

It’s not a secret that Venezuela is under extreme economic crisis right now that many people have given up their properties in exchange of material things. But one village stood the test of time and proved that material things are nothing compared to their culture and practices. Particularly, the Pemón village, located at Gran Sabana, refused to be bought despite getting many offers for its lands. Instead, the villagers have dedicated themselves to growing their small farms using centuries-old agricultural practices.
