Under the U.S. – Taliban peace deal, around 5,000 Taliban prisoners were released by the government last year in exchange for 1,000 security personnel. Unfortunately, these freed Taliban prisoners took the opportunity to go back to the battlefield again and fight the government. With this, over 600 of them have been rearrested despite them claiming they would not join the militant group again.
