Non-combat death of Special Forces warrant officer under investigation | Task & Purpose

Warrant Officer John Wirka Jr. was found dead on Jan. 14, leaving his wife and daughter behind. According to reports, his death is due to a ‘non-combat’ accident. Investigations are still on-going about the case, with 7th Special Forces Group spokesman Maj. Andrew Harshbarger commenting that he cannot issue any statements yet. The cause of death has yet to be released. Col. John W. Sannes, the 7th SFG commander, stated that “John served his nation honorably and was loved by many.”
