Oldest living Marine Corps veteran passes away at age 107 | Marine Corps Times

Sgt. Dorothy “Dot” (Schmidt) Cole, the oldest Marine Corps veteran reported, passed away due to a heart attack on Jan 7. Born on 1913, she celebrated her 107th birthday last year. Cole’s service laid the foundation for women to serve in the Marine Corps today. She enlisted in 1943 in the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve after the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Cole requested that donations be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church in Concord, North Carolina, where she was a member for more than 40 years, or the Marine Corps League Cabarrus Detachment, according to her obituary.
