The USS Georgia, one of the Navy’s four Ohio class guided-missile submarines sailed from the Gulf of Oman into the Persian Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz. It has been eight years since one of these boats sailed through the area and many believe is a signal to Iran. The USS Port Royal and USS Philippine Sea sailed alongside the sub to help support Operation Octave Quartz, the removal of US troops from Somalia. Pictures of the boat also showed a dry deck shelter, used to special operators underwater and mini submarines.
