The US Navy revealed its newest generation of the Tomahawk cruise missile, the Block V Tomahawk from destroyer Chafee in December. The first iteration of the Block V upgrades the missile’s communication and navigation systems. It features capabilities including hitting surface ships at Tomahawk ranges with the integration of a new seeker. They incorporated the sub-sonic missile because it can travel at a more fuel-efficient speed. Tomahawk Block V is comparatively cheaper and there were integrations between hypersonic to subsonic features to find the right kind of mix for the weapon.
