Ayoub El Khazzan planned to perform a terrorist attack and kill passengers onboard a French train. He was stopped by three Americans, two of whom were servicemen, who attacked him and knocked him unconscious. Khazzan had boarded the train with an assault rifle, almost 300 rounds of ammunition, and a handgun. Lawyers and witnesses stated in court that they believed few, if any, of the passengers would have survived the attack. He has been confirmed as an Islamic State terrorist and is now being sentenced to life in prison.
