The US Army’s 1st Special Forces Command (Airborne) has announced they will be creating “Hard Target Defeat Companies” that will focus on combating higher-end conflicts such as Russia and China. These new companies will likely replace or oversee the current SF Crisis Response Forces, and the Hard Target Defeat Companies’ specific roles are still being determined.

Philippine Special Forces have taken down five communist guerrillas that attacked the SF unit in the South Cotabato province, including an explosives expert known as Romeo Libron.  Lt. Col. Randy Banaag, commander of the 5th Special Forces Battalion, commented that they recovered a stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and homemade bombs from their hideout.
