Air Force gets first new ‘Jolly Green’ rescue helicopters with roots to the Vietnam War | Stars & Stripes

The 23rd Wing and 347th Rescue Group received two HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopters, with a legacy tracing back to the Vietnam War. This is to transition away from the HH-60G Pave Hawk model, which is used already for 26 years. It is expected to acquire 108 more Jolly Greens which will conduct operations into hostile environments to recover isolated personnel during the war. It will also be employed for civil search and rescue, medical evacuation, disaster response, humanitarian assistance, NASA space-flight support, and rescue command and control.
