In 2005, Sgt. First Class Alwyn Cashe repeatedly ran into a flaming vehicle to rescue each one of his brothers-in-arms. Cashe was the one of the most injured out of the men, and his wounds were sadly fatal. A bill to award Alwyn Cashe the Medal of Honor has passed through congress and awaits the signature of the President. “We are now very close to recognizing this unbelievably heroic soldier, who died saving his men” Representative Stephanie Murphy said. Sgt. Cashe was the youngest of eight in his family. His family and his supporters have been working a long time to see his award upgraded.
