On November 11th, 2019, the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet took out Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Baha Abu al-Ata in a joint mission. The operation took place in northern Gaza and was a big win for the Israeli defense establishment. Despite Al-Ata’s death removing a major threat, many are unsure if it actually hampered the terrorist’s abilities. After his death, Israel was able to create peace negotiations with Hamas, but it was short lived as Palestinian factions began attacking again just three months later.
