97-year-old Silver Star Iwo Jima veteran to be oldest Marine participant in Marine Corps Marathon | Marine Corps Times

He earned the Silver Star and is expected to become the oldest Marine to participate in the annual Marine Corps Marathon. “I haven’t competed in a marathon before, but I’ve never been afraid of a challenge,” Harvey said in a press release. Harvey plans to cross the finish line in a wheelchair four days shy of his 97th birthday.
