Black Force Recon Marine, battlefield commission, Vietnam War hero… snubbed for the Medal of Honor? | Marine Corps Times

Marine 2nd Lt. Jim Capers spent four days in Vietnams jungle searching for a regiment along with his fellow Marines and a dog named King. It was in March of 1964, but his actions are still remembered. Capers suffered from two broken legs and was bleeding profusely but still continued. Despite being injured he managed to evacuate his team off a helicopter after deeming it a life-threatening situation. All of the Marines except King survived. Years later he now is being considered for the medal of honor.
