This adorable little rat is trained to sniff out landmines — and he’s way better than EOD | Task & Purpose

An African giant pouched rat named Magawa was the first rat to be recognized with PDSA Gold Award. Magawa was trained to sniff out landmines and unexploded ordnance in Cambodia and was able to recover 39 landmines and 28 unexploded munitions. “Every discovery he makes reduces the risk of injury or death for local people,” wrote Jan McLoughlin, director-general of the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals.
