On September 23rd, two Navy F/A-18F Super Hornets from Carrier Air Wing 17 conducted an airstrike in support of the global coalition, Operation Inherent Resolve, against the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria. The strike destroyed three shelters at an ISIS hideout in Kirkuk province. The last airstrike against the terrorist group occurred in 2018 by the USS Theodore Roosevelt.
