Call for U.S.-bred war dogs grows to end ‘outsourced’ security | Bloomberg Government

Must Read

War dogs are very relevant in missions and patrols which can detect scents more than 1,000 times better than any human or equipment for finding bombs or chasing down terrorists. However, the actual costs of these dogs are higher because they are often born and trained in Europe. The Defense Department informs that it does not have access to an American breeding program that can satisfy their standards. The American Kennel Club has been pressing for more transparency of the actual cost per deployed dog, to be able to account and train for future breeds of war dogs.
