After a helicopter crashed on San Clementine Island two Army soldiers lost their life. Staff Sgt. Vincent P. Marketta, a Distinguished Flying Cross recipient, and Sgt. Tyler M. Shelton were identified. Both soldiers had a history of deployments and were a part of the Army’s legendary 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). The men also have numerous amounts of awards and will be receiving the Meritorious Service Medal. Col. Andrew R. Graham, commander of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (A), released a statement where he said, “The loss of Staff Sgt. Marketta and Sgt. Shelton has left a scar in this Regiment that will never completely heal.”
