Two North Carolina National Guard Aviators earn the Distinguished Flying Cross | NCPDS

Captain Stephen Scott and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Eric Carver was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor award on August 18, 2020. The medal was awarded for their heroism during a night mission in the Uruzgan Province of Afghanistan where they received an attack from enemy forces. They were part of the 1-130th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion and the two pilots provided security and attack operations in support of Special Forces ODA 7225. They quickly used their skills to identify who was shooting and engaged after permission was given.
