Broadway workers fight to stay afloat with theatres closed | BBC News

The Broadway industry is greatly affected by the announcement to close theatres until January next year to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Thousands of workers are finding other means to survive by making a temporary change of careers to get by paying rent and bills. Unemployment benefits may have eased the burden, but others had to tap on their savings for buying essentials. Other performers found ways to do online performances, but this temporary fix has little to no pay. Online performance, however, will never replace the experience of seeing a live performance in theatres.
