Stew Smith, a former Navy SEAL and fitness author, recommends a variety of workouts but there are a few groups that he knows will benefit from one of the three classic weeks of military PT workouts. For beginners or low intermediate, he recommends focusing on the PT pyramid and the superset. Increased repetitions are the key for those in the intermediate zone and max reps workout is strictly for advanced-level training. He advised that even as an advanced athlete, recovery day and volume still matter in your overall physical and endurance performance.
