Mauritius oil spill: Rush to pump out oil before ship breaks | BBC News

The ship carried 4,000 tons of oil and hit a coral reef causing it to spill out into the Mauritius coast. France has sent assistance. Volunteers have been using straws to create barriers so the oil doesn’t expand more. However, this goes against the government telling people to leave the clean-up to the government.
