Rising tension between the United States and China lead President Donald Trump to mandate closing the Houston Consulate within 72 hours. A fire accident happened in the said consulate and two U.S. government officials had information that documents were being burned. There is also a possibility of closing the Chinese consulate in San Francisco. The U.S. State Department said on Wednesday the Chinese mission in Houston was being closed “to protect American intellectual property and Americans’ private information.”
