Former Green Beret ‘disgusted’ when Kaepernick first protested, talks change of heart | Koin News

As protests have sparked across the nation in this year in the name of racial equality and against police brutality after a series of killings of black Americans by police officers. Back in 2016, NFL player Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the National Anthem in order to protest racial inequality in the United States after being advised by former Green Beret Nate Boyer. However, some took the kneeling during the anthem as disrespectful to those who serve the nation and those who have died defending it. Jason Vancamp used to feel that way, until recently. He has taken the Green Beret motto “De Opresso Libel” to heart and feels that it is also his duty to stand up for the black men and women of the nation and the oppression that they face. According to Koin News he said, “I don’t have the capability to ever understand what it’s like to be a black male in America, and I’m not going to say that I do but I am saying, I will do my best to end oppression, and racism in our country because it’s time to take things personally.”
