Libya calls for US, EU sanctions on Russian mercenaries, backers | Aljazeera

Libya’s National Oil Corporation released in a statement that Russian mercenaries and other foreign fighters entered the Sharara Oil Field unauthorized on Friday.

The oilfield is responsible for 1/3 of the country’s oil production. As a result of the incident, the Libyan representative is calling for the United States and the European Union to take action and impose sanctions against Russia because of their involvement in Libya.  However, Kremlin has denied the presence of the forces in foreign countries.
