California is taking it a step further by requiring all people in public spaces to wear face masks. These spaces would include in parks that are open, shopping, federal buildings, and medical facilities. The California Governor Gavin Newsom released this in a statement Thursday although there are some exceptions. Those with medical conditions or mental health issues that prevent them from wearing it are able to not wear a mask. Young children under the age of 2 also are not required. Any patrons of a restaurant that are sitting 6 feet away from other households are permitted to not wear masks to eat and drink. It is unclear about how California plans to enforce this.
