The American Community Survey program has revealed that those who study science and engineering in college have the highest salaries. This program as well as response from graduates on their major and income were used to compile a list of the highest-paying degrees in the U.S. Health and medical preparatory majors took the number one slot, with a median salary of $165,400. The number two and three slot went to petroleum engineering and zoology. Many of the other majors listed were based on engineering, science, and the medical field. Physics majors took the number 20 slot with an average annual total income of $121,500.
