A class action lawsuit was brought against Facebook by some of its content moderators claiming their job gave them PTSD. Facebook has agreed to pay out $52 million to the affected workers and is expected to be signed off on later this year. The social media platform uses a combination of human employees and AI to sort through reported content on the platform. A group of monitors hired through a third party have said they now have PTSD from their job because they would sometimes have to review violent content. Around 11,250 employees are eligible for the compensation and Facebook has said they are creating more technology systems that will filter out violent images before it is reviewed.
