14 civilians were killed when three armed assailants attacked a maternity clinic in Kabul, and at least 15 others were wounded. Two of the killed were infants and the rest were all women. Afghan police and special forces were able to kill all three assailants and rescued over 100 civilians inside the center. Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Aryan has called the attack a ‘crime against humanity’ and photos have been released showing Afghan forces carrying babies out of the building. The international humanitarian organization Doctors Without Borders runs the clinic and coalition soldiers supported the Afghan troops in clearing the building.
