Reports that Wagner, a Russian mercenary group with strong ties to President Putin, have been operating in Libya have been pouring in for years. Russia has regularly denied any ties between the State and the group, even though they are also believed to be active in Syria and Ukraine. Now, independent monitors for the UN’s Libya sanctions committee have compiled a 57-page report detailing and confirming work by Wagner in Libya in accordance with General Khalifa Haftar. This is the first time the UN has confirmed the mercenary presence in Libya and believe the number between 800 and 1,000. The report also details that Wagner is providing military vehicles and have been acting as snipers and supplying air support.
