Meat packing and processing plants have become a hotspot for the coronavirus this past month. Many workers had been laid off, and now plants have been closing all across the country. So far researchers have identified at least 4,913 sickened workers and at least 20 deaths. On Tuesday, Iowa officials announced that there were at least 1,653 cases from four plants that had outbreaks, making up ten percent of the meat plant work force. Facility owners have been stating that the health and safety of their workers is the top priority, and that they are working to develop ways for production to continue safely.
