This years past flu season has finally come to an end after 22 weeks commented the Centers for Disease Control. This is the longest flu season the U.S. has seen in the past 20 years, with last year’s season holding the previous record with 20 weeks. Despite the longer outbreaks the number of hospital and healthcare visits for the illness fell to 2.2 percent this year. Experts have noted that the coronavirus has likely impacted this number however, as healthcare providers have been cutting down on how many patients they see and for what reasons. Dr. Bryan Lewis, a professor at the Biocomplexity Institute at the University of Virginia, has commented that we should be more concerned about the coronavirus and keeping social distancing measures in place.
